Remembering Your Heart Horse

Losing your beloved Heart Horse is never easy. These magnificent creatures become a part of our lives and leave a lasting impact on us. Their loyalty, beauty, and grace touch our hearts in ways that are hard to put into words. As we remember our favorite horses that have passed away, we honor their memory and the special place they held in our lives.

Personally, I’ve never owned my own horse, but I will always remember Zarod, owned by my friend Laurie.  Zarod, a beautiful bay Arabian Gelding was always so curious about what I was doing. He was always in my personal space, checking on me, whether it was when I cleaning his stall or just sitting on the fence at the pastures edge. I sensed he always wanted to be connected and be sure I had a place to feel safe.

One of the most difficult aspects of losing a heart horse is the sense of loss that comes with it. It’s important to remember that it’s okay to grieve and to take the time to process our emotions. Every horse is unique and has their own personality, so it’s natural to feel a deep sense of loss when they’re no longer with us.

As we reflect on our favorite horses that have passed away, it’s important to focus on the positive memories that we shared with them. Remembering the good times we had, the lessons they taught us, and the love they gave us can bring comfort during this difficult time. Whether it was the way they nuzzled our hands, the sound of their hoof beats, or the way they galloped across a field, these memories will stay with us forever.

One way to honor the memory of a beloved horse is to create a memorial. This could be a special photo album, a shadow box with their halter and favorite treats, or a garden dedicated to their memory. A memorial can serve as a tangible reminder of the love we shared with our horse and the impact they had on our lives.

It’s also important to remember that our horses live on through us. The lessons they taught us, the memories we shared, and the love they gave us will always be a part of who we are. By sharing these experiences with others, we keep our horses’ memory alive and honor the special place they held in our hearts.

In conclusion, remembering our favorite horses that have passed away is a natural part of the grieving process. It’s important to take the time to reflect on the positive memories we shared with them, create a memorial to honor their memory, and share their legacy with others. Through these actions, we can keep our horses’ memory alive and honor the special bond we shared with them.
But the heart horses are the ones that give you their heart in return and those are the horses we cherish above all others. Kate Boggan
