Did I mention that I don’t normally have a face showing on the models in my horse photos? Although model and horse trainer, Ashley Morgan Rhodes was beautiful to photograph I still felt the desire to put a twist on some of the images to create even more romance in the photo. I’ve had so many viewers tell me this should be on the cover of a Harlequin Romance Novel. According to statistics compiled by the Romance Writers of America, romance sales topped $1.08 billion in 2013. That’s a lot of book covers!
Using Nik filters for your Horse Photo…
I was playing around with some Nik filters – a great Photoshop add-on tool from Google. Nik filters can assist photographers in creating a variety of different looks. I experimented with several different filters to create a tinted sepia, that looked hand colored and antiqued. Like something you would pull out of your grandparent’s trunk of old photographs. It just reminded me of that sort of thing. When I put several filters together and played around with it, it just felt right. This of course was after I got up and walked away to make a cup of tea and let the idea of the photograph percolate in my imagination for a while. It was a new style for me and I was not sold on it right away, but it has turned out to be one of my favorites for sure. Take a look at Horse Nation’s list Fifty Shades of Neigh , a reading list of Horse themed romance novels.
I like the way people just linger in front of Matching Set and Gothic Gallop from the Windswept Manes Collection while they are in the gallery. Then they usually ask if it’s a painting and what is so different about it? Viewers notice that these fine art equine photos have a mystique around them. I like that these have a romantic quality to it as well as just being cool photographs! They seem to capture the whole Game of Thrones, Outlander, fantasy and medieval genre.
Stay tuned, I will be offering some of the others that have that same fantasy genre, romantic, renaissance feeling to them, as screen savers, phone covers, duvet covers, pillows, shower curtains, and other ways to bring them into your home to enjoy.
