The Mountain Artist Guild
The local art organization, Mountain Artist Guild in Prescott started the studio tour concept in 2007. Now in it’s 10th year, the annual artist studio tour attracts art patrons from all over the state. This year there are over 60 juried artists participating at 40 locations. “We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education, support and training in all aspects of the visual arts through exhibits, workshops, scholarships, seminars and practical experience in the creation of artistic works. The Guild serves as a charitable vehicle through which artists and members may associate with others of similar interests, offering support and encouragement for the development of their artistic talents. ” The Guild also has a beautiful gallery and gift shop. You can visit the guild gallery at 228 N Alarcon St Suite B in Prescott, AZ. You can also check out their website for an up to date event calendar that lists workshops and shows. Many talented Prescott area artists offer workshops to educate aspiring artists on their craft.
Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour comes with duties.
In an effort to reduce costs, each artist is assigned tasks to perform as part of their contribution to the Prescott Area Artist studio tour. I had two duties this year. A delivery route for Studio Tour guide distribution and getting signed contracts for radio station advertising. My assigned route this year was the Cottonwood, Arizona area. I managed to coordinate this in to a trip over to the Dragonfly Art Gallery in Old Town Cottonwood where I currently sell my artwork. I made the trip over with fellow artist, Christy Garavetto. The tour guide distribution was fun and we even managed to work in dinner with friends at The Muse Bistro.
Where is the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour?
You can download a map from the website or pickup a brochure at most local businesses. There are over 40 studios on the map and 4 Art Centers. The art centers host several of the non-juried artists and are also a great place to see a lot of art in one location.
This year I will be in Karen Clarkson’s art studio. Karen is an award winning painter and shows all over the Southwestern United States. Karen is best known for her Native American art and also enjoys painting and drawing landscapes and ravens. Karen’s latest endeavors have taken her to making Native American clothing.
Also joining us at Karen Clarkson’s art studio is Christy Garavetto. Christy is a macro photographer and takes great time and patience to create beautiful images. Christy loves to focus on plants, birds, bugs and animals. Christy slows everything down and allows the viewer to really appreciate the details of life that surrounds them.
Of course, I will be there with my equine and western Art. I’m starting all the photo coaster production early to keep up with the demand. I will also be selling my 2018 Miniature Horse Photo Calendar and have many great photo gifts to offer. It’s not too soon to start buying your holiday gifts.
So be sure and visit us October 6, 7, and 8th from 10-4 at Clarkson Art Studios 2529 Ridge Rd, Prescott.
