Equine Art Photographs are the preferred gift during the holiday season.

Equine art photographs seem to be the preferred gift during the holiday season this year.

Equine Art- Horse photography by Jody L. MillerEquine art: I am eager to hear why everyone is purchasing my horse photos for their loved ones.  As each story comes in during the transaction that people are making throughout the galleries that I am in, I get to hear how much one of the horses that I have photographed “looks just like the one that my mom used to have” or the popular “she will love it, she has always loved this kind of horse” “this color horse” “the horses of the Salt River are her favorite” “this looks like my husbands favorite horse, I want to get him one to take to the office” “man cave” “the den” “the hallway in from the garage” – all of it applies and let me tell you that these heartfelt stories that people share with me, never get old to me.  I love hearing about all of it.  I love hearing that the son found his mother the perfect gift and cannot wait to let his siblings know what a surprise is in store for their mom.  I love hearing the stories about how a man loved his horse and that the one in my photo is going to bring him some comfort in the days to come.  It’s partly why this is my favorite time of year, the stories from my customers about what the photos mean to them and who they are giving it to.

So there it is, sitting unassumingly under the tree with only a few people, or maybe only one, who know what is under the wrapping paper.  I imagine that the person who purchased my photo went home after finding the perfect wrapping paper and wrapping up their treasure and is now walking by the tree with excitement every time they think of the person opening their gift.  What a fun thought that is for me!  I like to think of them wrapping up a photo for their daughters room and then going to read her a bedtime story on the nights that lead up to Christmas Eve and as they tuck her in at night they pass the spot on the wall that they know is going to be her horse photo to share her life with her for years to come.  That is fun me to think about too!
