Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour-Prescott Arizona

Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour

This year I will be participating in the 9th annual Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour.  I’m much more excited to be involved this year than my first time in 2008.  I feel more prepared and matured as an artist and my photography skills and fine art offerings have improved.  I will be offering new horse fine art photography as well as some of my classic favorites.  I will also have a few fan favorite images available printed on various home decor.

Art Studio space is about location.

Downtown Prescott Courthouse Square

It is the real estate agent’s mantra: Location, location, location. You’ve certainly heard the phrase enough and may wonder what inspires agents to say the word three times.  In a nutshell, location, location, location means identical homes can increase or decrease in value due to location. The saying is repeated three times for emphasis, and it is the number one rule in real estate, though it is often the most overlooked.  I gave art studio location great emphasis when deciding to participate in the 2016 Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour.  I think ideal locations are ones that are close to town; restaurants and shops.  Many folks touring will make an entire day out of it.  That means lunch out with their friends, perhaps a stop somewhere in town for a refreshing drink in between studios or ending the day near their hotel.  Also, by being close to town you are closer to many other studios making it easier for guests to studio hop quickly.

Another consideration in location was to be among friends.   Several members of my artist co-op, Arts Prescott Gallery were signed up to participate in the studio tour.  My friend and very talented Up-cycle artist Melody McConaughy lives just a few miles from downtown Prescott at the base of Thumb Butte.  She’s got a warm inviting space with a charming home, scenic patio, cozy studio and a small guest house that they use as a vacation rental.  Melody invited me to join her and two other wonderful co-op artists at her studio location.  Coincidentally only minutes away from my own home-how convenient it that!  I will be occupying the small guest house and filling it with artwork!

Having fun selling Horse Photography!

Having fun taking horse photos!

I absolutely love what I do!  I love horses, I love taking photos, I love capturing incredible moments on film and presenting it to the public.  I have so much fun doing what I love to do.  I wanted to be sure I was in a fun location surrounded by friends.  I think this energy and camaraderie will translate into fun art sales too!  When I receive my images from the printer, I’m so excited to get them out of the box.  I envision over and over how much fun it will be to present these photographs for sale and consider my horse art as gifts that keep on giving to their new owners.  So many collectors of my work are thrilled to have my horse photographs hanging in their homes or offices and always share stories of how these photographs inspire them and give back.  To me, that’s what being an artist is all about.  It’s fun to create, it’s fun to share my work with others and it’s really fun when my horse artwork finds it’s way to loving new homes.
