Don’t miss our Mother’s Day gift ideas

Mothers Day-Jody L. Miller Horse Photography“New mothers tend to be protective of their foals and they may be very aggressive toward other horses. Your mare may pin her ears and charge nearby horses to drive them away from her newborn. Be careful not to get between her and another horse or you may get hurt. In some instances, a mare may also become dangerous toward people, especially if she believes that her foal is threatened. To protect yourself, keep the foal between you and his dam.

For his first few months, your foal will continue to take 30-minute naps many times throughout the day. After he is about four months old, he will nap less and for gradually shorter periods. He will nurse three to four times each hour for the first week of life. That frequency, too, will decrease as he ages…read more from Equus Magazine Online

Mother’s Day gift items

I’ve put together some fun horse art related items that would be great gifts for Mother’s Day. Many will not be spending the day with their mothers, including myself. Luckily, I saw her recently for her birthday. After my visit I sent her a Horse Art Shower Curtain. She loves it and informed me that perhaps her small bathroom might be over powered by the shower curtain of the Friesian Stallion from the image Sand Storm. Keep that in mind if you are considering a shower curtain for your bathroom.

Horse art on Cell Phone Covers

When designing art on cell phone covers, you have to be aware of where all the buttons and slots land. Sometimes, they end up in crucial area’s of the photograph. With some tweaking, they still work out okay. My cell phone covers are fun to Mother's Day Gift ideas- Horse photographer Jody L. Millercarry around as well and work for Apple phones and Samsung. Now, if your mom is like my mom- she is not addicted to her cell phone like our generation. She carries an old Apple iphone passed down to her from my brother-in-law. She keeps it off unless it’s an emergency. She can make a phone call and retrieve her messages but that’s really all she uses it for.

Today’s smartphones are being used for many different things.  In addition to communicating with others, people can use them to access the internet, listen to music and even watch movies.

Horse Art sparks tender memories for mom

During my years of selling horse art, I recall a few stories from buyers that were getting a gift for their mom. I was working the closing shift in the co-op gallery on Whiskey Row in Prescott, Arizona. If you have not been here, it’s called Whiskey Row because of the amount of bars that exist on one single block. This means the art galleries on Whiskey Row are often frequented by some intoxicated people. Two young men (probably in their 30’s) came into the gallery and stopped at my Mothers Day Gift - Horse photographer Jody L. Millerdisplay of horse art. They shared with me that one of the photos looked just like their mom’s horse that had passed away many years ago. They proceeded to purchase the photograph and were both so excited to deliver the package to mom on Mother’s Day. They were so proud of themselves for this great find.

Face Mask for Mother’s Day

As I mentioned above, I’m sure many of us will not spend Mother’s Day with our moms or will be missing them and reminded of how much they love them.

In this trying and somewhat stressful time of isolation, perhaps send your mom a custom Face Mask. Two weeks for delivery, so get yours ordered now. You can ship it directly to her. If you are seeing her in person, then perhaps get one for yourself too.
