Horse website re-launch review, Equine photographer Jody Miller

A look back at the new website re-launch

It’s been a year since the website re-launch…

Horse website re-launch review, Equine photographer Jody Miller I’ve learned a lot in the last year about website technology, search engine optimization, word press, and blog post writing.  My website guru and friend, Rich Charpentier provided me with personalized video tutorials which was/is a life saver.  My computer background helped me to understand some of the technical aspects of the website re-launch but I am far from mastering Word Press.

Backup your horse photography website!

Actually, it should read “backup any website” before making any changes!  I threw the word horse in there to help with SEO (search engine optimization).  I have always preached a good backup routine since I’ve seen so many hard horse website re-launch, equine photographer Jody Millerdrive failures over the years. My website hosting company provides easy one button backups of my entire website in case I screw things up or plug-ins break something during updates. I LOVE backups!  Thanks WPEngine for making it so easy.  They even offer a staging site if you are going to make major changes over a period of time, you can work on it in increments until the website is ready to launch.

SEO for Horse Photography with Yoast.

SEO is the make it or break it portion behind the website.  You can have a beautiful design but if it’s not search Horse website re-launch review, Equine photographer Jody Miller engine friendly and filled with good keywords, then it will never be found.  I use the Yoast plugin for Word Press.  The plugin reviews my writings and gives me a red, or green light to tell me how I’m doing based on the keyword I input.  So far, I’ve got a green light on this blog post.  I base most of my blog writings on how well I show up on a google search.  I’ve got my sights on the number one position and time will tell if I get there.  Before the website re-launch my horse photography website didn’t show up anywhere-now semrush reports I’m over 300 keywords and still rising.

Guest bloggers for my horse photography website.

http://jodylmiller.com/guest-blog-equine-sculptor/To take the pressure off my writing skills I solicit guest blog writers of horse related businesses.  I’ve had some great guest blogs from horse rescues, horse trainers, other equine artists and equine service providers.  It’s been fun getting to know some new people this year and trade ideas and audiences with them.

Changing technology and algorithms of a website

Website software and technology continues to evolve. Search engine optimization and the big search engines like Google and Bing continue to change how they will find your website.  My job is to keep changing as the technology and trends change and of course create that post someday that will just go viral!
