Preparing for Gallery of Horse Art Showings

I’ve been a member of Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery for 7 years.  Over the years I have built a following of collectors of my work.  During my art career as a fine art equine photographer,  I have shown my work in several galleries.  I did a brief showing at The Langley House Gallery near Houston Texas until they closed their doors.  I’ve shown my work at The Hilltop Gallery at the Prescott Resort until they remodeled.  I was in the Gray Leaf Gallery in Prescott until it closed it’s doors and even the Work of Artists Gallery in Scottsdale until they closed their doors.

You might be thinking that I’ve had some rough luck with all these galleries closing their doors.  I think I’ve had great luck!  I’ve had to negotiate contracts, space sizing, shipping arrangements and appearances at all these galleries.  It has been a wonderful learning experience.  The summer of 2016 kicks off with several gallery showings.

Gallery of Horse Art showings for summer of 2016

As summer creeps up on me, I am preparing for several “guest show” presentations at Art galleries in Northern Arizona.  Of course, my work is always on display at Arts Prescott Gallery.  You can stop in to 134 S. Montezuma in the heart of Whiskey Row from 10-6 daily and see my images.  I sell gallery wrapped canvas from 16 x 20 up to 40 x 60, matted prints from 5 x 7 to 16 x 20 and a selection of photo greeting cards.  Prescott receives the most tourism during July 4th weekend when we host The Worlds Oldest Rodeo.  It’s a great time for me to display some of my western lifestyle and cowboy images.

Bringing ’em Home USA

Summer time is tourist time for Northern Arizona.

People flock to Arizona to stand on the edge or hike down into the Grand Canyon .  It’s too hot to spend much time in the southern part of the state during summertime, so Northern Arizona is the place to be.  Then there’s Sedona and the Verde Valley.   According to a Sedona visitors site “Sedona is equal parts rugged, equal parts resort.  Regarded by Native Americans as sacred, Sedona continues to be recognized as a place of healing and spiritual renewal.  Many come to experience the vortex energy centers of Sedona.  Others want to prowl the 40-plus art galleries lining the streets, or to receive soothing treatments from the dozens of spa facilities.”  My summer art showing  starts with an opening reception on June 3rd during the monthly Artwalk.  I will be showing and selling my equine fine art at The Village Gallery in the Village of Oak Creek just outside of Sedona.  My guest show here will run for almost two months , from June 3 until July 31st.

Most recently, with its nearby vineyards and tasting rooms, the Verde Valley has emerged as a destination for wine enthusiasts.  Beginning June 1oth I will be displaying and selling my Equine Fine Art at Pillsbury Winery Tasting room in Cottonwood, Arizona.  I will be onsite during the Cottonwood Art walk nights on June 11th and July 9th and my art will remain until the end of July.   Sam Pillsbury, owner, filmmaker and horse enthusiast uses a horse on his wine label.  Pillsbury wine club membership levels are Mustang and Quarter Horse.  A fan favorite is the Rhone blend, Red Roan.  I will be offering some images of the Red Roan stallion from the Salt River Wild Horse Bands along with Mustang and other horse breed photos. Pillsbury Wine currently produces 14 varieties 100% Cochise County Arizona wines under his Pillsbury Wine Company label at his 100 acre Willcox Bench Vineyard and Winery-mostly Rhone Blends.  He has won gold medals and some of the highest scores for any Arizona wines, currently names Best Local Winemaker by Phoenix Magazine, voted Best Arizona Winery by Arizona Foothills Magazine, and named “one of the rising starts of the Southwest” by Wine Spectator Magazine.

Gateway to the Grand Canyon and Route 66

Williams Arizona is often called the Gateway to the Grand Canyon.  From Williams, you can take a train ride to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  I will be the featured artist in August at The Gallery in Williams starting July 31st.   Historic Route 66 runs direct through the town of Williams.  The opening reception for the show in Williams is during their art walk on August 13th and the show runs until August 31st.  Look for some of my larger pieces in the front window of the gallery on Route 66.
